Cartersville, Georgia criminal defense attorney Lance McCoy has over 25 years of law practice experience. In his Georgia criminal defense practice, he represents those accused of everything from traffic offenses to serious felonies. During his career, Lance has practiced both criminal and civil law. Before dedicating the bulk of his practice to criminal defense, he served as an assistant district attorney for the Cherokee Judicial Circuit, where he prosecuted cases ranging from speeding violations to homicides in Bartow and Gordon Counties. His success for his criminal law clients comes from his deep understanding of the Georgia courts inside and out. Early in his career, Lance also gained civil law experience working for an insurance defense firm. He now puts this experience to work in select cases for personal injury victims and their families.

Because of his practice in both the private and public sectors, criminal defense attorney Lance McCoy has gained extensive trial court experience and has developed superb litigation skills. During his years of practice, he has tried over 200 jury trials, giving him the ability to analyze and present his client's case in the court room.

Lance is currently admitted to practice in the Georgia Supreme Court, Georgia Court of Appeals, and Georgia Superior Courts, including the municipal, juvenile, and probate courts. He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, thus permitting him to represent clients in federal court. He is a dedicated Georgia criminal defense attorney ready to fight for his North Georgia clients in matters ranging from DUIs to personal injury.

More About Lance

Born in Warner Robins, Georgia, Lance obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Public Administration from Georgia College. He went on to pursue his legal career, graduating with his Juris Doctorate degree from Georgia State University College of Law and beginning practice in 1992.

Since 2003, Lance has worked with his wife, fellow attorney Sharon McCoy, at their family-owned Cartersville firm, The McCoy Law Firm, LLC. Criminal & DUI Law of Georgia is a practice of The McCoy Law Firm.
