As a Cartersville Georgia criminal defense attorney, Attorney Jana Allen joined The McCoy Law Firm in 2020 after transitioning from the position of Assistant District Attorney in the Cherokee Judicial Circuit (serving Bartow and Gordon Counties). Jana has served as a criminal prosecutor for approximately 17 years and has also practiced in two other District Attorneys' Offices: the Dougherty Judicial Circuit in Albany, Georgia, and the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit (serving Chattooga, Dade, Walker, and Catoosa Counties). Before entering the field of criminal prosecution, Jana worked for a private law firm practicing business litigation in the Atlanta area.
Jana left Atlanta and private practice in September of 2002 and joined the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office to return to Trion, Chattooga County, Georgia, and serve her hometown community. She was raised in the area and graduated as a die-hard Trion Bulldog. It was Jana's opportunity to give back to the family, friends, neighbors, and other community members who had, in the very beginning, paved a path for her to succeed and to achieve her educational and personal goals. The spirit of service to the community was deeply ingrained in Jana from her very first public sector position, and it ultimately motivated many more years of faithful service to the people of the State of Georgia. She brings this passion to her clients as a Cartersville Georgia criminal defense attorney.
Having practiced law since 2001, Jana has had the opportunity to handle almost every variety of criminal case -- from DUI, Speeding, and Drug Cases to Child Molestation, Rape, Sex Trafficking, and Murder cases -- at every stage of a criminal proceeding -- from the investigation and issuance of a warrant to the appeal of a criminal conviction. There is not much in the criminal realm that Jana has not encountered and satisfactorily resolved. Nevertheless, Jana is very excited to expand her horizons here at The McCoy Law Firm and to join Lance and Sharon in helping their neighbors and community members reach the goals that they have for themselves and for their families, whether that goal relates to a criminal case, a civil case, a probate matter, asset protection, or long-term care planning. At her core, Jana has a passion for helping other people, and it is her career mission to use the education and training she has accumulated over the past 20 years to make life better for someone else. To her, that is the work worth doing -- the work that makes a positive difference in another's life!
Jana is married to James (Jamie) Allen, who is a pilot with the Georgia State Patrol Aviation Division. They have two girls who keep them very busy with dance and cheer, but Jana and Jamie would not have it any other way. Their faith and family are their cornerstone. Everything else springs from that foundation. Jana, Jamie, and the girls have 4 dogs (Prissy, Willow, Bentley, and Summer), who grow lazier and more spoiled by the day. Jana is a fervent animal lover and a believer in local animal rescue groups. Three of the Allens' 4 dogs hail from Jana's favorite local dog rescue organization; the fourth one, Prissy, was originally a stray who wandered up to the Allens' house and decided she was home!
